INVENTORY RACKS
As important as the safety of your samples is the organization of sample storage. To ensure that an organized inventory system is chosen, we advise that the following 5 questions are considered.
- What kind of vials or tubes am I using?
- How many vials/tubes do I want to store now & in the future?
- What kind of cryoboxes do I use for storage of my tubes?
- How can I organize my freezer in an easy and logical way?
- Can I reach my boxes at the back without removing any racks?
INVENTORY SYSTEMS FOR UPRIGHT FREEZERS
The principle we use to create a racking system for maximum storage capacity and easy handling is simple. An outside frame is designed in Autocad 3D according to interior dimensions of your freezer. Inside the frame we position sliding drawers. We prefer to work with drawers because those are easy to remove and they make it easy to reach the last box at the back of the freezer. Depending on the box dimensions we calculate the optimal drawers size and maximum storage capacity per freezer.
Taking into consideration:
- Maximum filled weight of the rack for eased handling
- Exterior dimensions of the rack (easy to carry and remove in case of defrosting or failure)
- Drawers have to slide in and out, even at very low temperatures like -86°C
- A solid system, to be used for many years ahead.
