A microtome is a device for making slices for microscopic observation. A microtome is a machine that cuts thin and uniform slices of tissue. The tissue is supported by hard paraffin or other substances. Each cut is automatically advanced ( in the direction of the knife ) by the slice thickness device to the required distance. The gradient of the thickness device is usually 1 micron.
