Method A is appropriate for transparent samples with an initial boiling point above room temperature and an aniline point between the bubble point and the solidification point of the aniline-sample mixture.
When dealing with samples that are too dark to be tested using Method A, Method B, which utilizes a thin-film approach, is recommended.
Method C is specifically designed for samples with a significant tendency to vaporize at the aniline point.
Method D is particularly suitable for samples that are prone to substantial vaporization at the aniline point, especially when only limited amounts of the sample are available.
